I am reluctantly offering one of my FZ's for sale as I need the space & the money. I bought it with a bit of tax & mot a few months ago but without looking it's safe to asume both have expired now. The only pictures are on my phone & I haven't worked out how to get them to my pc so you can either pm me with your number & I will text them to you or wait until I take some with my camera (when I find it). The bike is blue/white/yellow with a full fairing exactly like this one. Mine does not have the single seat cowl & the wheels are powder coated grey to match the frame. It has a standard exhaust system in very good condition, new chain & sprockets & 2 new tyres. I replaced the fork oil seals & fork oil last month. Other than braided brake hose's it is pretty much as Yamaha intended. There is the odd small scratch to the paintwork & tiny patches of surface rust on the frame but generally it has been very well looked after by its previous owner/s. I bought the bike with a running fault foolishly thinking I could fix it easily but haven't got tot he bottom of the problem yet. There were separate cone air filters fitted when I picked it up & it was very reluctant to rev up cleanly suggesting to me that the jets weren't suited to the filters. I have replaced them with a standard air box & filter element which improved matters slightly but not completely. I then balanced the carbs which didn't need doing & proceeded to remove the fairing, radiator in order to do a compression test. This is as far as I have got to date, the next step being to actually carry out a comp' test in order to establish if the valve clearances will need setting but time is not on my side. I am in the process of moving house or should I say leaving my present home to go.. . somewhere else ? This rather sudden relocation has put a strain on my ability to store some of my stuff, hence the sale of this bike & much of my car/bike spares. Should I find the time to check & adjust the shims & assuming this cures the running problem I will want something like £600 for the bike, maybe more if I take it for an mot. Actual pictures of the actual bike to follow.

OK folks here are some actual pictures of this FZ I am selling. It's fairly obvious why I fell in love with it from those few pics I think ? It's a good, honest, straight bike with minimal defects. I have got a black seat if the buyer would prefer & I have also bought a cheeky little number plate (7"x5") which isn't fitted but included obviously. This is how it looked when I bought it a few months back. Since taking these I have removed the fairing lowers & radiator to gain access to the cam cover but this is as far as it got. I will throw in a pair of side panels I bought last month which have the exact same colour scheme so you can fit the best pair although the ones fitted are fine. As already mentioned, if I find time to set the valve clearances (which is looking more & more likely as I get settled in at my new lodgings) then this will be reflected in the price. Not entirely sure I am happy about selling this bike but there are now 4 in my mates garage, only 1 being his ! ;D

Graham, that's a nice looking bike and the price is certainly fair. Actually, you could not buy that bike in Canada at that price! Damn I wish it were closer. Hmmmm I wonder what it would cost to ship it in bits and pieces?? ;D Dave

If I had the cash I'd buy it myself mate so I had a bike to swap to.

I'm open to reasonable offers folks but thought I should mention that a compression test has now been done & it is reading low on all 4 so the next chunk of time & enthusiasm will go towards measuring the valve clearances.

OK don't wish me luck. ;D I wish someone had, been on for 5 days & only 4 people watching it ! Not a single call about it either. Must be the prospect of setting the valve clearances putting people off.. . or are we the only people in the whole wide world who love these old bikes ?

Let's hope it's not just people off here watching it then Graham!!! I'd honestly like to buy it myself and just swap my engine straight into it, but money's too tight to mention............Hmmmmmm, think I'll write a song about that.

Graham, I hope you've got your bike sold. I'm not sure of UK pricing but your asking price is about $750 Canadian and you couldn't buy a old scooter for that here. Incredible. Check out autotrader.ca. Hey, maybe there's an import/export business brewing!! Good luck to you!! Dave

Not a single call to date. 7 hours to go on my ebay listing & 9 people watching it. I'm guessing at least half of those will be folks from this forum ! Looks like I'm stuck with it then. I paid a fair bit more than my asking price for it so it will have to sit at the back of my mates garage until the other one is finished. & that's a whole other story too.

Graham, maybe parting the bike out is not a bad idea. I don't think it would be too hard to reach 500 with parts...hell the instrument panel and fairings alone would fetch good coin. That way anyone worldwide is a customer because of easy shipping as opposed to someone local looking for the whole bike. Plus you keep what you want. Hey just a thought. Dave

I know what you're saying Dave but it seems a shame to break a bike that is in such good condition to me. I will if I have to though so watch this space. Already got my eye on a few bits from it for my project money pit which is coming together at such a blinding pace now you can almost see actual, visible progress compared with how it was 6 months ago. ;D I spent a whole hour trying to bleed the clutch last night but still nothing. Now that's progress. Tom, if no one bids on it in the next few hours it's yours for £400 mate ?

Well it didn't sell. No surprise really given that there were only 12 watchers at the end. I have lowered the price on here now a bit & listed the bike one last time but the more I look at it the more I think I will have to find the time to fix it myself. I am willing to throw in a good pair of forks, a pair of both front & rear wheel with tyres fitted & a pair of side panels in the same colour scheme if someone will give me £450.00 for the bike ? That's got to be at least 100 quids worth of spares surely ? I know I know, don't call me Shirley.

I'll have a word with my motorcycle permissions officer and I'll buy it mate. I'd defo like it and at that price it's a snip really. Just need to sweet talk my mate into lending me his van to collect it then. Speak to you soon mate after I've been nice to people for a bit. Hahaha

I would like you to see it before you comit to buying it Tom. I would offer to meet you with it somewhere but A, that always seems very dodgy to me meeting up on a carpark or random layby with a bike in the back of a van & B, my van is broke ! PM me when you know something for sure mate. I am taking quite a loss at the above price but although we have never met, I like you which almost makes it seem worth it ? Do you just want the bike or the bike with spares for 450 ?
