I have an fz750 and put fzr1000 motor only in 85 fz750 , I always have a problem of rev limiting at 10,500 rpm . I ve noticed in video that 87-88 fzr1000 revving to 12,000 , so i ve been trying to find posts about this problem that I have not revving over 10,500 . I have 2 tci one is 88 fzr750 and the other is 88 fzr1000 , the only thing I have noticed is fzr has a blue wire from fuel pump relay to tci and fz does not. So from what I see the blue wire would either open or close a circuit to allow the tci 12,000 rpm, l m writing this post to give info to any future mods for others to read and I m also posting incase someone knows this and will confirm or stop me before I do something wrong. I m also going to make a jumper wire from 12v red/white going to tci over to middle pin closest to retainer clip to allow simulation of 12v from blue wire . Wish me luck!

Well, so far so good no electronic fire or smoke. Taken her for a ride tomorrow see if 12,000 rpm is obtainable.

I'm unsure about the blue wire you refer to, but in my 88 FZ750, the 88 FZR1000 TCI plugs straight in.
I have an 88 FZR1000 motor in the FZ. I don't think it revs to 12,000 though, it reaches a hard cutout at what seems like 11,800rpm.
Are you hitting a hard cutout at 10,500rpm or does it run out of power? Maybe tacho reads low?

I m guessing u have a uk model, my fz750 is us model. The wiring is different in u.s. . The blue wire on fz750 is going to pump only . On a 88 fzr1000 u.s. model blue wire is 12v to tci . tomorrow I be checking for 11,800 rev limit, I just rounded off to 12,000 . Thanks for showing interest I thought no one was on fz proboards .

My FZ is an 88 Australian model. Frame prefix is 2MJ. The FZR 1000 which was a donor for the motor / TCI was a Japanese import which came to Australia in 2008. Has a 2GH prefix
I have completely altered my wiring from the TCI to the fuel pump relay as I had an intermittent fault which left me stranded miles from home. I now have a car relay which is energised as soon as the key is turned to on.
Can't remember the original wiring, but know that the TCI's are a straight swap in 87 onwards models. Apparently some wiring needs to be swapped around for the earlier FZ's as they have 2 crank sensor ignition pick up coils (where the 87 on, had only one on the right hand side)

I'm going to finish the post I made and say the blue wire to tci didn't do anything to improve rev limit. Which leaves the only thought I have , valve springs are weak and that problem won't get fixed til spring. I m done replying to post maybe I ll get on next spring and tell you if it was valve springs. "Life is short ride while you can"
