Hi All,
Finally taken the painful decision to sell my FZ. I've had it around 6-7 years and it's been off the road for the majority of the time after it blew a head gasket. That's been fixed by my local mechanic (including head gasket, piston rings, valves lapped and clearances checked, carbs cleaned & balanced), and whilst it was apart I took the chance to get the front and rear subframe powdercoated. Starts and runs well, with a recent new battery, and has ~37k miles on the clock.
There are a few remaining issues I'm aware of, mostly as a result of having been stood under a cover outside for a couple of years (sorry!) :
Brakes need stripping/rebuilding
Some pitting on forks, may need rechroming/replacing? (Alternatively, think it's possible to swap in some thunderace forks/brakes?)
Clutch slave may need rebuild - no pressure at lever.
Some cracks to bodywork.
As a result, the bike is SORN'd and you would not be able to ride it away.
Unfortunately, I've had to concede to the other half that I don't have (and probably never will) the time to fix it up to a standard I'd be happy with (plus we're trying to save up some money). I would very much prefer someone to repair/restore and ride it, rather than break it for spares...though I suppose if it helps another FZ keep going, that's no bad thing.
In light of the work that still needs doing (but also given the work that's been done: ~£750) I'm only asking £950 for it. It's not advertised elsewhere yet, wanted to see if any of you were interested first. Will throw in clymer plus yamaha service manual if meets asking price.
