John has suggested that the forum might be improved if it we include other models with the Genesis name linked to them. I can only think of the FZ750 & FZR1000 87-88 if I'm honest but there are no doubt others. Steel framed FZR600 perhaps? I think it only fair that we should all have a say so started this to gauge interest.
Can anyone tell me what other models carry the Genesis name?

I was thinking of the wrong sort of models... I like Airfix. Especially the glue.

what about old fz600 as well ? Those smelly old air cooled things! Didn't they have the XS engines fitted to them? 4 valves per cylinder, upright engine with carbs & air box under riders seat & not enough power to pull the proverbial prick off a chocolate mouse. Those ones? I will leave this for a few weeks to see how the voting goes.

I would like to add that I am very pleased/relieved to see how the voting is going so far. ;D

The truth is my FZ has more parts from FZR,EXUP,YZFand R1 than FZ 750.So for me any five valver is OK.

They were based on the XJ550/xj600 engine but slightly uprated in the cams and carbs. i think they were the first of the 600 sport bikes alongside the gpz600r, not five valve and conventional layout so probably not really suitable i will admit. but having had and early xj600 which made mince meat of larger bikes round the twisties and was my everyday and fun bike for a while in the eighties i have a great deal of respect for them oh and a friend did race an fz600 with some success , good cheap fun that looks fairly good in my eyes. but not really suitable for here i agree. My fz is coming back together but it does have a lot of FZr1000 exup bits on it, will probably vote for just fz, oh what about fzx ?

Sorry Allison I meant no harm, just not keen on them & they don't really have anything in common with the FZ750 other than those 2 letters. I loved the GPZ600R back in the day. My FZ has FZR1000 bits, TRX850 bits, FZR600 bits, Thunderace bits, YZF750 bits etc but it's still an FZ to look at & that's the most important thing to me. If I'm honest I think this place would lose its identity overnight if we open the doors to other Yamaha models. I was fairly confident the voting would go the way I wanted it but thought it only fair to ask other members. There's still time for things to change! I love the FZX750 which would get my vote before anything else.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Let's not forget the venerable old MaximX! That's got a 5valve genesis head on it!

I will admit I have never heard of a Maxim M so had to google it. Looks too much like a Virago for its own good to me.

The day that Virago-a-likes are allowed on this forum is the day I slice my testicles off.
