It is a standard 1991 2MG as far as I know (with the exception of the Micron exhaust). I was given the bike by my nephew about 3 years ago after it had sat for 5+ years in his barn. It was only this January when someone gave me a copy of classic Bike Magazine that I got the urge to finally do something with it. I was pretty lucky in as much as the only parts I had to source were new tyres, new battery, new front calipers, and a replacement master clutch cylinder (FZR1000 item). I also chose to replace the fork stanchions as the originals were slightly pitted (did the seals and oil at the same time). I also had to repair parts of the fairing and painted using aerosol cans and decals off ebay. Not concours by any stretch of the imagination but I'm pleased with the result. Here are the start, middle (ish), and you see the end result above.

Awesome job. Looks great. Few questions, did you paint the frame /engine and what paint was used? Where did you find the decals? I'm stripping the old decals from my 85 model at the moment in prep for paint etc and I'm finding it a bastard of a job. Also my 85 compliance is 1FU not 1FN. Does anyone know what that means? Grant Are the wheels from an fzr? I have an 87 model but the rims were similar to the 1fn.

Hi - thanks for the positive comments guys. The decals came from an eBay user called quicksales-23 but he does not appear to have any for sale at the moment. I also used some silver piping trim. I used Carplan VHT paint for the engine and silencer, and Autosmart alloy wheel paint for the wheels and frame, and Autosmart Black for the plastics. I only used these as they were available from a local industrial supply company. I can't yet say how it will stand up to use. As far as I am aware the wheels are original 2MG.

The swingarm forks and rims etc look identical to an 87 model fzr1000 that I had. The fz 's were only imported into Australia up to 1987 1988 so maybe they were factory wheels on your Fz. Looks good mate you've done a good job Grant

It looks like it's the later model with the 17" front wheel and an 18" I the back.
