Even more fun LOL spent some time trying to get a Mech Speedo to fit an work , after hours of messing about gave up and went for a Combined Digital Speedo & Tacho So I thought I'll fit the "new " 16 inch front wheel , and guess what its got a Speedo insert which is sort of good news It gets better , the 17 inch Test wheel I'd like to fit but need it machining to get the disc's to fit as been on the bike for a while and has now been replaced by the 16 inch wheel , Now the blooming caliper's are a real tight fit to get on between the disc and the wheel rim , I have to remove the pads and it just fits , wow that was a close call LOL. , Front Mudguard has been fitted and covered up to protect it , Still got loads to do as its still in the "test assembly " stage at the moment , so it you see a cable tie or a bolt missing don't worry as its only loosely assembled in places Attachments:

Finally Pod's You may have noticed I have some old pods fitted , just so no crap or ouwt get in the inlet , but wanted to change them untill I get the Airbox / filter sorted This is what you get when you buy cheap pods of a well known auction site , Cheap crap , looked ok but the pods turn on the rubbers and were tight fit and deformed when fitting , as you can see they were not really bonded very well So I'm keeping my old ones for now as I want some type of V -stacks Attachments:

No pictures this week , also not much progress really , just trying to get bits to fit and work , Temp sensor , Lights , wiring , choke , stick coil conversion. Wasted a fair bit of time trying to get the digital Fuel gauge to act as a Temp gauge as I have do not have cooling fans fitted so I can let the engine run for too long
So the good news is the engine's running and starting fine since I fitted a spare set of carbs , not checked the jetting but it sounds and idle's fine Had a quick look at the race carbs and cant see why they would not run , can only think they were not seated correctly but doubt it as I refitted them 3 times using the same inlet rubbers ( Strange ).
Should finish the wiring loom this week , Its all in place but I think I'll make a split loom basic ignition loom and a second loom for the lights and stuff , they are all on separate fuses and isolated so its not a big problem.
Got some more cheap LED Spot headlights and trying to mask off the beam pattern so I have a dipped beam , there's not a lot of space to get anything to fit and theses are small but don't think they will pass a MOT, as i have said before just want some day time driving lights and a just in case it gets dark lights (blooming pain for what should be simple ). To add to the fun the spot lights have a single positive supply and have a inbuilt 3 mode switch Dip , High and Flashing knackered 2 1/2 sets trying to get them to just work on high beam there all different and your supposed to remove a U2 Chip on the circuit board but some are not marked , so its a try this one Oops scrapped it try another light LOL, but got a couple of different types that work for the mock up
Need to speak to the MOT man before I buy any more and finalize the gauges

Carbs, probably the single biggest headache for anyone owning or restoring a FZ.

Got to agree they can be pain Made a loom for the Coil Stick (COP ) conversion and they are now fitted and work a treat , too early to see if they make a difference but there is more room and the wiring is tidier I'll post a photo the weekend , its a simple job just need the get the right resistance coil I used CBR 600 1.5 ohm , google there's a lot of info out there (diagram attached) That's all for now, roll on the weekend Attachments:

Sorry no pictures , but making slow but some progress , loom finished and Cotton braid taped , temperature gauge fitted , shortened throttle cables by 100mm , fairings final fitting and now in primer , front and rear wheels fitted and modified cush drive studs fitted , Managed to run the engine up to full temp as i have no rad cooling fans fitted had to use a large "mains " fan to blow across the rad . No oil of water leaks , managed to get a 18x1.5 to 16x 1.5 thread adapter to fit a 65 deg fan switch which I temporary connected to a LED light as a warning . Missed the Christmas MOT target but not that disappointed just yet as its close just a few bits to get sorted . 1, Offset Drive Sprocket (seems to be sorted just waiting for a member to post ) 2, Headlights , still struggling to find some small enough road legal projector lights , which reminds me must go and see the MOT man this week 3, Clocks and dials to be final build fitted now all the gauges are working 4 Would like a oil pressure gauge or at least a low pressure switch / light , will have a look at this this week 5, Paint, leaving this until I'm up and running so thats not a problem on for the spring 6 Pods or stacks and a filter , I'll see what I have in the back of the garage and see if I have any stacks and fit Ramair MS-017 foam filter ( pic attached ) 7 final check over a bit of lock-wiring , bolt check and assembly dab paint Don think it will ever be finished but its not that far away Hope you all have a good Christmas and a Happy New Year

Fantastic the sprocket arrived and it fits "well almost " perfect alignment but the offset of 9mm is way too much and he Chain rubs / is very close to the frame BUGGER Poop and a few other words LOL. Not over bothered to be honest as I now know the alignment and have measurements on both sprockets , tho had to spend loads of time trying different combinations and looking at loads of speocket specs So a 520 chain conversion is on order. I'll just add I used a YZf750 engine to get the original wheel alignment and never really gave it much thought as I wanted the ability to use any combination of Fz FZr & YZF engines as they just bolt in When I fitted the FZ engine and srockets I remembered the output shaft is about 10mm longer then the FZ and I have the rear hub machined to match the YZF750 , bit of a school boy error but at least i know why I

Hi its been a while and only managed to do a few bits , but time to start again Fitted a spin off filter this weekend its took a while to get it made as its gone from a prototype for the finished item ready for manufacture ( details on the Facebook FZ750 proboards forum ) Managed to get the lights working pictures to follow later but for now just the spin off filter ,easy to fit takes 15 min and look really good IMO oil changes are a doddle now

Andrew Thanks , contributed to the design and development and yes it made for sharing See the facebook forum link the guy who made this one ( the first ) will do a production run if there is enough interest Budget price £ 35 Just need to get enough interest as he need to buy the material in bulk to keep the costs down www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1881790345179889&set=pcb.1460006970728626&type=3&theaterIf any body is interested please post here or on Facebook ( preferred )

Hi well after a long lay off , The Build is back on (been riding bikes rather than time in the garage, now an IAM motorcyclist and recommend the training to everyone )
With the lockdown and working from home has given me time at weekends mainly to tidy and make space in the Garage and restart the build There has not been a lot of progress other than to check what's been done change the carbs and get the bike running again now got a fairly long list of jobs but prioritised to get the bike MOT'd and on the road for a shakedown run and a rolling resto with the paint being done over the winter decided to have a "runner " first and then finish the build and work on the must-do rather than the like to do LOL
It's really good to have a list and even if it's a small job ticked off it's one step closer to the main objective "MOT" pass and rideable

Did wonder what was going on with this. Did you ever find out what the problem was with the race carbs?
