Folks
See pic, 2MG cylinder head, the hole circled in red pen. What is this for? Any idea? A tell tale? There is one each side
I have a very, very, very, slight coolant leak out of one of the holes only, clutch side of engine. Machine does not run hot at all. Fine on a long run. It is not chucking coolant out of the, but leaking never the less.
Just want to know what is up this hole! Doubt it should be leaking from there anyway. Is it an indication of a head gasket going?.
BR, Julian

I have always thought it is a went hole for the sparkplug hole. If there is some fluid (water) it is always on the left side as it leans on the sidestand and water find it way down there (rain/washing your bike). Sure it is coolant you see?

That's a good point - a vent hole for the plug chamber.
On my bike, it always seems to be the side opposite the side stand where the dampness is.
Not 100% sure it is coolant though.
Will know soon enough - I will be collecting some spare engines for the bike this weekend, some of them in bits already.
Will have a good look at it then on a dissassembled engine before I go pulling my engine to bits.

Yeah that definitely drains water from around the plugs good to poke it out with wire and comp air every now and then Karl nz

Yes. Do believe it is a vent hole for drainage for the plug gaps
