Hi everyone I've just been given a 1991 Fz750 and it's in a bit of a bad way to look at it, all the parts are there I think but I'm not sure where to start. It's not run for about 3 years and the carbs are off it and apparently they need some attention? My question is am I politely flogging a dead horse if you know what I mean. I'm willing to give it my time but I don't want to throw loads of cash at it if it's not worth doing, any advise about where to start with it would be very appreciated.

Hiya Dorian It's hard to say where to start without seeing pictures really. As to flogging a dead horse, it all depends on your ability with restorations. The bike itself is capable of 150 mph and it's combustion chamber is known to have good fuel efficiency. The forks/wheels/brakes are nowhere near as good as today's standards but even the original running gear is ok in good nick. Sorry I can't be more specific but good luck to you, I would imagine that it is worth a rescue but it depends on you and what help you can get.

Start with the carburators. Clean them well (ultrasonic). Change the oil and fuel and get it running.
Work from there towards what you have in mind with this bike.

Thanks for the replies I've just stripped the carbs down and I'm soaking them in cleaner. If all goes well I'll hopefully get the old girl started up next week fingers crossed, then I'll decide what to do next, I really want to bring it back to standard trim and color for the year does anyone know the correct color scheme ect for a 1991 model (it's red and white at the moment and I can't see any pictures on the net that looks the same.
