Nice one Alan, you can never have too many pictures on a forum. Do you still own the silver FZ? Not my place (or anyone's for that matter) to tell you off for riding in shorts. I should imagine it felt great at the time. If you want to ride your FZ naked then that's your choice just don't post the pictures on here eh?

You've got a deal on not posting any naked pics on here, 'coz I aint got none'. The silver FZ is the one in my front room on my avatar, I did say that the photos were from a long time ago, the bike has obviously changed quite a bit since they were taken. I can honestly say that it was nice riding with shorts on in the same way that its nice to ride through the ferry ports with my helmet on one of the mirrors & not on my head, but I think that I've grown a bit of a brain since then and like to wear a bit more protection nowadays because I already know that I bounce quite well. Hopefully this thread will entice others to post more pics because I agree that we can't have enough of 'em.

Tomster, I've found that as long as the chassis is in good nick the FZ is one real stable puppy to ride at speed in a straight line. When I took those photos my bike was completely standard and it seemed no different to taking a hand off the bars at 30 mph, the FZ is that good. WOOF! WOOF!

Gotta say that one handed at 150 is pretty impresive , whenever i've travelled that fast i've been hanging on for grim death with eyes like dinner plates!

Apologies for the slow reply but I'm on holiday in backward Devon & its not that easy finding an internet connection down 'ere. I can't see the point in a helmet cam if all you need is to use a camera, I'd rather save the money and buy a Marvic Penta front wheel, yes Scobri, the brain that I've supposedly grown is the misses's and not mine. Robbo, I've had a go at thrashing a 350lc in the past but found it to be quite unstable at speed but the FZ is just so stable that the photo's really were quite easy to take, you just need the right kind of road to do it on. If anyones FZ isn't very stable at speed then I would say that they need to decide whether any modifications that they've made have been a backward step from standard settings.

I've found a couple more pics that I thought may be of interest. This one is obviously a bit of a blast that I had at Santa Pod drag strip following a burnout, I can't remember what time or speed I got but I did get my bike into Performance Bikes magazine in December 1993 with the 911 kit on it and got 11.1 seconds at 128mph. I used to have a small alarm clock with the two bells on top strapped to the bike near the radiator cap so that I knew the time whilst riding along, if you enlarge the picture you can just see the parachord between the front right indicater and the radiator cap on the bodywork. Now I just have a cheap watch strapped around the yokes. These last two photo's were taken in the early hours of the morning somewhere in Kent (South East England for those elsewhere in the world) on the M20. At the time I was working in north Germany and had been working my arse off for three days with little sleep, as soon as I'd finished my work I loaded the FZ up and headed for home. I rode all the way through Germany, Belgium and Holland and boarded the ferry at Hook of Holland to sail to Dover. During the ferry trip I didn't get any sleep due to being too concerned whether anybody would nick my kit whilst asleep. Following the arrival at Dover I got onto the motorway and headed towards London (before making my way to the east midlands) and the lack of sleep started to get to me, at one point I nearly shit myself when I found myself to be way too close to the back of a lorry than I should have been and can only presume that I had momentarily fallen asleep whilst riding. I therefore decided to pull off the motorway onto the hard shoulder to try and liven myself up. I parked the bike and decided to run (with my backpack and helmet still on) along the hard shoulder to wake myself up a bit but barely ran 5 metres before I tripped up & went flying on my face, whilst lying on the ground I looked back to see if I had tripped over a brick or something but there was nothing there. It was only at this stage that I realised that I had pushed myself way too much and after taking these two photo's decided to get off the motorway to get some rest. I managed to find an old wooden bus shelter and actually pushed my bike into it, then lay my sleeping bag out along the bench and got my head down for a few hours before resuming my journey. It was a bit strange waking up in a bus shelter back in blighty after being away for so long but it was the right thing to do.

No problems web master, some people might think its a stupid thing to do to liven yourself up but I think its a sensible thing to do. I'm just glad that there weren't many people around at that time of night, I would have felt a right twat if it had been during the day.

Thanks for making me laugh with your story. I've been there myself and once had to give in thirty miles from home and have a sleep, as I realised I'd lost about a fifty miles of motorway!!!
