Hi All
I've got a WP rear shock fitted on my 1FN and want to continue to use it, so I'm reluctant to fit an FZR1000 swingarm. The early FJs have the same suspension linkage as mine - any problems with this fitment ? are they too long ? Thanks - Nick

Why do you want to fit a different swing arm? And the FZR1000 isn't a straight fit on a 1FN, where the linkage pivots on the frame is different to a 2MG FZ

Hi JB I'm weighing up whether to fit a wider, 17 inch rear wheel, the standard swingarm has a narrow opening, making it difficult to align sprockets and wheels - I think the FJ s.arm allows this to be done. If a 1987/88 FZR1000 s.arm is used you have to cut the centre stand mounts off to fit a normal linkage - the 2MG model didn't have the centre stand, so easier mod to do. My bike is pretty smart and I'm not keen to do anything that can't be reversed. My bike has a nice WP rear shock as well, which fits the early linkage, but I'd need to modify it to suit the later linkage....I don't know, maybe I'll have to live with the small and expensive 18 inch tyre selection ! I've got to remove bits and pieces to clean up and respray first anyway, it's good to look to the future . . . .
