Looking for instructions to properly clean the carbs. I have a Clymer manual but it sucks and doesn't tell this procedure. I generally know how to clean a carb but don't know how to get some of the parts in the bowl out that don't obviously screw out. #2 I removed the small screw that holds it in but now what? And what about the part to left of #3? Any other tips for other items to remove and clean? Thanks. Just starting a restoration of an 85 FZ750.

Yes! with #2 screw removed you will need a very good grip on the brass body & to give it a wiggle as you pull. It's sealed with an O-ring so quite tight even when it hasn't been in place for 30+ years. #3 is the main jet which has a small O-ring at its base. They unscrew & as long as you can see through the centre hole I just give them a squirt with carb cleaner & maybe thread a bit of speaker wire down the hole to be sure it's clear. #4 is the pilot jet responsible for fueling at closed throttle up to 3/4 open or 3-4K rpm when the main jet takes over. These unscrew & as well as a hole down the centre have several holes in the sides which all need to be clear. Again with speaker wire, carb cleaner & or compressed air. #1 is just a kind of cap at the base of the emulsion tubes for the needles. They can be removed/unscrewed but will be very brittle by now. I've had a few of them break & there is little to be gained from removing them so my advice is leave alone.

#2 is always where I often have problems on mikunis - O ring shrinks and lets by => overflow of carb.. the o-ring size is also odd (imperial I think). Somewhere on here I posted a metric near equivalent that works..
