I'm a newbie here, just bought a minging 2MG, but she runs and she's all there, so a good starting point! Already thinking about how to ditch that 18/16 wheel combo and dubious brakes. Hoping this group will be a source of inspiration. Cheers!

Hi. Welcome. Where in Ireland? You probably know that later models came with 17" wheels so the conversion is not that tricky - I can live with itthough and the 'dubious brakes' maybe braided hoses and a caliper refurb will help..

Yes for sure the brakes will need an overhaul, and that's always the dilemma whether to dump money in to overhauling brakes that will never in reality be up to modern standards, or spend on an upgrade. Ok I admit it I'm a tinkerer, and I do have some blue spots and some gold brembos that would look the part :-D

Ha.. I'm told when you get there there's a sign saying 'you've come a long way' True?
If you make a search here there are some threads about Triumph calipers that are a bolt on upgrade/ Blue spots will nee some kind of adapter presumably.
I have a friend up near Letterkenny and hope to visit for some road races next year... (always next year though right.)
