Hiya, I am the new owner of an 1986 fz750 1FN bike in loctite red and white which has the full fairing and single seat options. The bike was giving to me and is in maybe what would be classed as barn find condition! She has been off the road and untouched since 1997 but I pulled the tank of and with a drop of fuel down the carbs and a jump pack...she fired straight away with no choke! Am I on to a winner or just forget it? Lol. I think...strip and show it the love she deserves...? Scott
Hi Scott. If you like the bike and think you will get some use out of it I say go through it but the cost of restoring a bike that hasn't been used for some time can soon escalate. Brakes, suspension & tyres would be the first items on the agenda for me. I'm sure you'll find a buyer without too much trouble if you don't decide to keep it. Where are you from?
Hiya and thanks for your reply first off. I do yes have a little 'thing' for the bike and will definitely be enjoying it and not looking for money making...i just like the bike and don't like seeing history disappear! I have completely stripped and cleaned carbs and nothing needed bar good clean. Gonna fit tomorrow and if runs ok I think I'll do it and save her!
vtr: Hi from cape town; new at forum's not at bike building; the insanity is contagious. Recently acquired a "1FU" FZ750 with dropped valves and decided cool to rebuild as a 911conversion sleeper, what we do to ourselves...

grahamfirestorm: Can anyone tell me why my bike doesn't seem to light up after 7000rpm like all the research I did before buying it.She has the standard 4 into 1 exhaust, carbs rebuilt with new jets,seals,floats,2 new diaphragms, all valve clearances checked and adjusted?

grahamfirestorm: She revs round to 10000rpm ok,but there is no urgency with it,my 1987 Kawasaki gpx750 was a lot quicker, and that was supposed to be 10-15 bhp down, ive been told the standard silencer and air filter are to blame but I don't believe that.

Graham : grahamfirestorm. Do you have standard size main jets fitted to your carbs? I would be tempted to go up a size or even two to see if it helps the bike pull stronger at high revs.
