I've had my 1985 FZ 750 since 1988. After years of marriage and kids, I finally am getting the bike back into shape. It's on the road and running great. I'll post some photos of its current condition soon. I just replaced the upper fairing and lower cowls with Air-tech components. The running gear has all be serviced and for the most part is new.
I'm looking forward to being part of the community. I do have a quick question. I'm wondering what the red switch next to the choke knob on the left inner fairing liner is for? As I refurbished those inner liners I found that the switch had been disconnected sometime back in the distant 80's. I don't see where it would want to be connected to nor what the darned thing is for. Searching my shop manual hasn't helped. I'm sure you experts know what this switch is intended to do. Thanks!

Hi. Not sure why it's red but from the location you describe it sounds very much like the reserve fuel switch.

Nope. The Reserve Switch is on the same side but lower on the inner liner just south of the choke knob. May be some photos will help.

That's not original equipment so I'd say one of the previous owners has fitted it for heated grips maybe?

Maybe it's a manual switch to turn on the fan? I installed one in mine years ago to keep it from overheating I'm city riding.
