Hello, I'm new here and now the owner of a rough but mostly intact 85 fz750, I have no idea what I was thinking when I picked this one up. I've been wrenching on bikes for most of my life, mostly pre '85 kawasaki's,Honda's and Suzuki's. I've owned a 72 r-5 (1st road bike), a 75 rd and lastly a 79 rd400f Daytona. So this is my first 4 stroke Yamaha and I really was impressed when this bike was first released but never got around to buying one, until now. Looking for all the help I can get bring this back to life. Attachments:

Clean teh carbs and fit some new plugs and off you go. These bikes are well built!

As Jamie says, carbs will definitely need cleaning well, possibly the fuel tank too. Rebuild kits are still available from Wemoto, Yambits etc.

Yeah well, The slides on the carbs are currently stuck, all the valve clearance's are tight so I'm looking for a new rack and will more than likely have do a valve adj. and then a compression check. So it'll be a bit before we're able to hear it run.
