Well after my success with the genny last night I thought I was on a roll. When I fired the bike up I could hear it chuffing through the headers, and it still needs and MOT. This morning when I investigated...... the clamps were the wrong side of the header flanges and the only thing keeping them in place were the springs. No Bloody wonder they were leaking. Took everything to bits this morning and had to shorten the header ends and face them off so that the studs were long enough when the clamps were in the right place. Luckily I found two copper gaskets in my garage and there were two that were under the other gaskets in the ports. Having a break for lunch now then it's time to try to refit them. Oh deep joy!!!!!

Keep us posted Tom as it sounds like you are getting very close to having a good, usable, dare I say road worthy FZ ! ;D All I have done to mine in the last 2 weeks is buy an illegal number plate & make a bracket for it + the obligatory reflector. Some would call it apathy on my part, I prefer the term steady progress. ;D

Right the pipes are back on and ok. Starting to put it back together now but I've got the clutch to split again and the front brakes to un-seize again, as it's just been standing for weeks. Better do the horn while I'm at it. MOT next week I hope and then you can read my obituary in the paper.

Horn kinda works and I've put new clutch plates in. On the down side one of my fairings has been damaged in the garage and has got a big split in it now. Doh! Having to t-cut the wheels because someone has been spraying black near them and they're covered in overspray. Might take it for a sly spin tomorrow if I get the fairings back on.
