... on my MOT
Failures
1) Front brake fluid reservoir dangerously low (yes I know, I've been fucking with the brakes for the last 3 days, can you see where this is going?)
2) Front roller brake test indicates a binding brake
3)Rear roller brake test indicates a binding brake
4) Rear disc cracked.
Advisories
5) Front discs has slight run out
6) Front disc slightly worn
7) Rear disc slightly worn (what the point of this advisory is I don't really know, I can't fix the cracks see 4 above....)

not sure what the roller brake test is? when I had my 1fn done last year they just hooked it up to the wall via a hook and cranked a handle. Did they test yours on a rolling road?

Well, you don't need a rolling road to know.

No I didn't. If anything it's worse.
Bought replacements off of flea-bay (approx £65 for a pair of fronts, approx £45 for a rear, all confirmed to be good)
I'm going to replace all the disc whilst I'm at it, rather than just the rear. Found some for about £35 each, but I'ts going to have to wait until I've transferred some more cash into the debit card account.

I got standard FZ calipers lying around in my garage if you want them? Front & back. Can't vouch for their condition but they "look" good! ;D

get some really good penetrating oil and spray it right into the plungers and on the pads and discs then ride it for a few miles to get it to soak in. It should free off. Be aware though that the brakes will not be effiicient during thr process.....LOL

I commuted year round on my FZ for fifteen years and had to rebuild the rear one every winter, until I put a smear of ACF50 into the piston seal grooves after I'd scraped the crud out. That was five years ago and I didn't have to rebuild it again until I sold it a few weeks back. The problem is that corroded alloy increases in volume and forces the seals tight onto the pistons. The ACF50 stops the corrosion dead. I was slightly worried about it reacting with the fluid but it never caused any problems

Well, thats some replacement front callipers fitted, and bikes all sorted.
Booked back in for Saturday so I'll have a nice shiny new MOT about 2 and a half weeks before the old one runs out.
Oh, and I have some callipers that are in serious need of some TLC if anybody is willing to take them on.
