Maybe this will help someone else, had a post sometime ago, somewhere else that I was having trouble trying to dismantle forks on second bike, the allen bolt at the bottom was stuck fast in the damper rod inside the fork, well I finally got it out, had to go HIGH-TECH, went and bought a broomstick handle, tapered the end, took three times to get it just right, a few hits with the rubber mallet to jam it in, and BINGO! bolt came out. Forks are better than the road bike ones, so glad I did, almost took them to the Yam dealer, trinity.

I love simple solutions like this. I used a solid bar I had lying around & welded tiny blobs around one end which (with a bit of tidying) fitted in the cut outs of the damper rods inside the fork legs & acted like a giant torx drive. Broom handle makes me wonder if I wasted a lot of time & effort now.

I used to use a poker with a tapered tip, tapped (!) in with a large hammer.....
