I've now got the cable clutch replica kit part fitted and working properly: picasaweb.google.com/FZ750Horse/BuildingTheBeast#5613711084781975906If anyone wants one for their Lawson replica I can put you in touch with Graham Lance who owns the CNC program for the housing but be warned, the cost for the housing was over £200 ('kin Customs ) the rest cost me about £50 on eBay - I probably wouldn't have done it if I'd realised how expensive it would end up...

Yeah i got one off him too, need to crack on and get it fitted now. I see you've modified the cable holder bracket.
Them customs tossers really piss me off, i could understand if we were trying to beat the system by importing parts because they are cheaper overseas but when you import because the parts aren't available anywhere else why should you have to pay duty and vat on them!

I could have just about swallowed the 20% VAT but the fact that they charged me £13 for their trouble pissed me right off. The picture prior to the one in the link shows the cable bracket that Graham supplied; it looked much better but didn't work with the R6 cable I'd bought. I bought a bit of 2mm stainless from a scrap merchant and made the one in the photo. Actually, it's the 3rd one I made - the angle of the bend has to be bang on to avoid kinking the cable. The one Graham supplied might be ok with an inner cable about 25mm shorter than the one I used - I'll experiment at some point.

Just putting it out there, if you guys needs custom machining work done, let me know. I'm not in the business of making motorcycle parts but I do manage a completely modern machine shop with CNC lathes, mills, 5-axis machines, etc. So, when I have a machine sitting idle for a few hours waiting for the next job, I jump in and utilize it with "important" stuff. If I get an example piece or template, there's not much I can't make...and a hell of a lot cheaper than someone trying to make a living at it. No pressure here guys, just offering to help. Dave

Thanks for the offer Dave. Would you be able to make some billet crankshaft end caps like these: picasaweb.google.com/FZ750Horse/PartsInfo?authkey=Gv1sRgCKHe9Y6ItY2aKg#5512401898647285634They're identical to the stock one on the inside but about 25mm thick so that they don't wear through in a crash. I can send you a stock one if necessary. I won't copy the clutch bit for the moment; Graham Lance must have had a considerable outlay to buy the original kit part and commission someone to write the cnc program. It would be unfair to undercut him before he's got some of it back...

I'm sure I can make those. Let me try to find one here that's not bolted to an engine before sending one all the way from England. I assume the race models are also aluminum for better cushioning during an impact(versus steel) just thicker. I'll get back to you within a few days.

The cable clutch unit looks awsome and the economy of New Zealand thanks you I'm curious what the advantage is ? The bling value is undeniable and reason enough but presumably not for weight saving. Does it improve feel or is there a weakness with the stock set up? Cheers Red

There's no weight advantage but the stock system can be a pain in the arse. The slave seals can let go without warning and if you get air into the system (eg. after a crash) it can be hard to get it properly bled in a short space of time. If you're paying for track time at race rates it's just one less thing to worry about. That said, if I'd known it was going to work out so expensive I'd have lived with it

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for one of these conversions! but that price is a bit much for me. I don't actuallt "need" it, more of a "want" lol. I'll save this for future investment into my FZ.
