I love that Katana. I must admit that I've looked at them a few times and have been very tempted

Cheers guys, yes it's had lots of coverage, last year Performance Bikes, this year CCM and MCN. To be honest it was all a bit overwhelming as I just set out to build a Katana how I felt it should be. It's this philosophy that I will hopefully be applying to my FZ when I eventually find one.
Katanas are getting hard to find at the right price and their popularity means people that have them want silly money to sell, best bet is find a 750 (identical) and sling in an 1100 motor, worked for me.

Another 80's favourite of mine. I rode my mate's 900R back in 93 & I'm slightly ashamed to say this, crashed it & wrote it off! Broke my ankle even with moto X boots on. Bloody hefty things they are. I fixed it but it was never quite the same again. I will never forget walking out of my local bike shop in 1987 when I was a mere 16 year old Yamaha DT50 riding youth. There was an old boy who had just thrown his leg over his GPZ900R & had started it up. He gave me a knowing nod as if to say "keep at it son, you'll have a proper bike one day" then accelerated down the road absolutely flat out! 2 things shocked me about this, A; I really wasn't expecting him to do that & thirdly? had I not seen it with my own eyes would never have believed that something so big could accelerate so god damn quickly! Not sure if he got out of 1st gear whilst still in view but fairly certain he was doing a little bit more than the 30mph speed limit. ;D

Speaking of which, if I get one of those polite letters from a 'camera safety partnership' after the trip to my dads on the bandit, I won't be replying.
The 6 points for that will be less than I get for the speed I was doing....

When the first Katanas came out I thought they were great looking bikes and so modern looking (in the early '80's) but they didnt seem to sell very well....similar to the FZ really...they even look similar with the vauxhall viva headlamp and the short skirt fairings....anyhow well done! nice work! can't wait to see your fz PROJECT
