Hi All.
First time poster and thought I'd share some pic's of my 1985 FZ750N that I purchased brand new in April of 1985. Back in the day I was a young single guy working as a CNC machine shop foreman by day and working for an off road race team by night. The race team owner was Dick Landfield who at the time owned Fairway Yamaha in Placentia, Ca.
When the FZ first came out in 1985 I wanted one really bad. I was 24 years old and thought this would be the coolest bike in the world to have so I asked Dick to sell me one. Only problem was they were not legal for sale in California so Dick found this one for me in Indiana and had it shipped to Bullhead Bike Center in Bullhead City Arizona. From there I picked it up new with the certificate of origin and headed to Las Vegas to meet my brother at the DMV and registered it to him as he was a Nevada resident where the bike was legal to sell. Six months later I registered it as a used motorcycle in California with no problem.
I had a lot of fun riding this bike back in the day but a few short years after I purchased it, I found myself newly married, financed a house, and took out more bank loans than I care to admit to start my own CNC machine shop. Needless to say the bike got parked in a dark garage covered up with blankets and sat there for 25 years. With all those bank loans over my head I figured I just couldn't take the chance of getting hurt and not being able to work. I really like the bike as it was my pride and joy and just couldn't bring myself to sell it.
Fast forward to July of 2012 and I uncovered the bike and started the process of getting it running again. New tires, battery, flushed cooling system, carb overhaul, battery, etc. She's as good as new and all original without a scratch in it! The bike still runs and rides fantastic and only has 12,000 original miles on it. The first time I rode it after all these years I had the biggest s**t eating grin on my face I've had in a long time.
My CNC shop turned out to be a successful business and we just celebrated our 25th year in business. All my bank loans for houses and equipment are paid off and at 51 years old I thought it was time to rekindle some two wheeled fun from my younger years.
Enjoy the pic's!
I even managed to find some new riding gear and helmet that matched the pain scheme.
And my new license plate frame...
