Completely fed up........I can now strip and build carbs in my sleep but can I get a set to work correctly NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Going to leave the bike alone for a week or two and start again......read somewhere that leaving the carb bodies soaking in cleaner for a while works so when my patience returns I will strip the carbs for the umpteenth time and put them to soak.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am far from being an expert, but I used PineSol to dip my carbs in to get them cleaned, I completely took them apart as well, poked each and every hole with a wire, sprayed carb cleaner through each and every hole as well and changed all O rings, did a bench sync after all was put back together, and then a vacuum sync, and have had no issues with the carbs since. not sure what your actual problem is, but it's typically and air leak, floats not set correctly, or a dirty passage somewhere.
Pull out the diaphragm's prior to soaking...

I've had good results cleaning them with acetone - you can get it from fibre glass material suppliers or just use cheap nail polish remover (same thing). I used tiny inter-dental brushes for the larger blocked holes and spray gun broaches for the smallest - as I'm sure you know, poking stuff through the jets is a last resort because you're bound to end up enlarging them slightly :-(

Here goes.
First set stripped and cleaned all rubbers checked for leaks. Rebuild missing on tickover and number one. Put set of 1000 carbs on bike ticks over and revs fine. Start to strip set 2 air screws knackered but clean carbs and put them on bike as is....only ran on two FFS.
Graham sends up 1 and a 1/2 sets of carbs which are sent off to be professionally cleaned. Build up the complete set will not tickover unless set at 3000 number 4 will not run clean. So strip that set and build up Grahams other set with parts off set one. Turn them over to find one carb top part cracked, tighten cap on gently and the bloody corner breaks off.
Message Graham to ask if its ok to strip both sets down and build one set up.
Lumpy tickover and will not rev cleanly..................upset..............put on 1000 carbs bike starts, ticks over and runs fine just not very good power, carbs too big really.
Bike now in garage with cover over it.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Kite flying looks really good at the moment

I've been having similar issues with my build but... I know my carbs are good. Very lumpy tickover unless set to over 2000rpm and one random cylinder always runs cool. Splutters and farts until I get it over 4000rpm but then spins up like a good 'un until I start worrying about the neighbours. I'm hoping that it's just because the intake and pipe make it run stupidly rich below 4000rpm and I'm taking it to RAF Odiham next month to test it on the runway. I've seen this before - wouldn't run worth a damn in the garage but sorted itself out after a good thrash. Worth a go at least if you can access somewhere to try it?
