Morning all
Does anybody know of a good reliable engine builder in the Manchester/ Sheffield sought of area who would quote me on a top end valve shim job. Measured them last night and there's more than a few closing up on my 40K engine. Had it running before I took it out the frame but don't want to put it back until its done. Any idea on cost ? Fairly confident at having a go but time and locating shims is putting me off. Ps its all the camshaft out.
Cheers Dave

Shims are pretty easy to get hold of. My last lot came from A J Suttons and I needed some quite thin ones.

Going through the same situation myself,it's all shims in shims out trying to sort the the little buggers for the least amount to replace. It's fried my brain trying to sort it, (I'm an amateur at this). Shims seem to be costing around £4.00- £10.00 on flea bay + post, depending where they come from. It's if you trust them to be the size it says. I think as an average I need at least 12 or so so to replace, all due to lapping valves in. Fun Fun Fun.

Don't bother with Ebay if they are any more than that.
