Greetings from Finland. I just opened up my -87 engine and found out that inlet cam have eaten some of bearings. Now I'd like to know if this cylinder head top (or what ever it is ) part is interchangeable in all FZ models? Is there any other Yamaha models that use same cam carrier assembly or is it used only in FZ750? In pictures part in FZR1000 head looks like same.
And sorry about my english.

Your English is absolutely fine my friend. I believe the 1987-88 FZR 1000 Genesis cylinder head is the same fitment as the FZ 750 but has slightly bigger valves. I hear of people using the FZ750 head on the FZR 1000 barrels so it stands to reason that it would work the other way. Also, I have used a late FZ head fitted to an early engine so no problems there either. Sometimes it is just easier and cheaper to fit a good engine complete. Having just rebuilt the cylinder head on my Fazer 1000 I could have probably bought a used engine and fitted that for the money I have spent on my head. My only consolation being that at least now I know everything is new. Stem seals, valve clearances set to their outer limits etc. Maybe this would be a good oportunity to upgrade to a 1000cc FZR engine..

Just adding this to same thread. I tried to search forum, but couldn't find information. Does YZF engine fits into FZ frame? Fixing points seems to be same, but YZF has those engine mounts in sides of cylinder block.

Hi if u r referring to the yzf 750 then i think no the cylinder barrels r set at 35 degrees ( fz 45degrees ). But the yzf 1000 thunder ace is the same as the fz and many prople fit this engine to the fz chassis
