My bike sat in garage for a long time. Ran great up until parked do to health issues. I'm the origional owner and the bike has 18,316 origional miles. Rebuilding carbs. Getting ready to sell.
The vacuum slides (all 4) won't move at all and I don't want to force anything. The carbs do have a thin sticky varnish from old gas after sitting for so long. I have the carbs assembled on the bench. I removed #1 carb and disassembled and cleaned what I could. Getting the slides removed is stopping all progress for now.
I'm new to the group and haven't figured how to post pics. I know it should be my pic file copied and pasted here. I just haven't tried it yet.
Any ideas about fixing my carb issues would be a welcomed help. Thks all.

Define, 'sitting for a long time.' I had exactly the same issue with mine and I was unable to free the slides so I purchased a replacement set of carbs on Ebay (I was fortunate, the rack was clean and previously rebuilt $165). You may be able to free the slides, if the varnish isn't too solidified, with carb cleaning solution. But I'd have to surmise that whatever is affecting the slides is also affecting the rest of the intake rack brass as well so even if you are able to free them, the rest of the carbs will need to be cleaned as well.

All I can suggest is you buy a can or two of carb cleaner, squirt plenty around the offending areas and leave it to soak for as long as it takes until you get some movement.
