Is anyone interested in billet alloy crankshaft end caps for their FZ/FZR? These replace the Yamaha originals (part no. 15416) which often get destroyed in a crash and allow grit into the engine. The billet items are about 25mm thick and also protect crankcases, and to some extent downtubes without the frame bending potential of the Harris type bash plates.See: picasaweb.google.co.uk/FZ750Horse/BilletFZCrankshaftEndCaps# I THINK the same part would also fit all FZ/FZR models and YZF engines up to the ThunderAce. The reason I ask is that I nearly went through mine when I crashed testing at Brands in July and I need some more. No one seems to have any in stock so I'm looking at having some made - cost will be about £50 a pair, but I'd need to have 20 made to get it down to that, and I don't plan on having that many crashes! If there's enough interest I'll shell out the £500 and sell eight pairs at cost. Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get some off the shelf? (I've tried Phil Smith and Steve Spencer and Performoto seem to have disappeared). Thanks, Gavin

I might take you up on that if I don't get enough interest to have a batch made. I've been offered the loan of a pair for the last race this season and since I'm not intending to race next year there's no hurry. I asked Steve Spencer about them at the start of this season and he didn't have any left.

Robbo.

I hadn't actually specified exactly what the wearing surface would look like except that it should slide rather than dig in. It's hard to see how they would end up looking much different to the ones in the link. At the moment you're only the second person to express an interest - I'd need at least another half dozen to make it viable .

That's about six people who've expressed an interest now, including a couple of EXUP owners. Still not enough I'm afraid - ideally I'd want at least nine. The price will probably have gone up now due to the VAT increase. I think the only way this will happen is if someone does it as a semi-commercial enterprise, i.e. stumps up £500 upfront an then flogs them with enough mark up to make it worth while. I might do this later in the year when my wallet has recovered from it's racing injuries ;D

I'll just do what I did last time, and let the fairing absorb the damage.....
