Hi all,
Many years ago I had an FZ and always promised myself that I would get another one. The one that I had in the 90's belonged to a good friend who crashed it in spectacular style out near Melton Mowbray, Shoby bends if anyone is familiar with the area, they have claimed many victims! Anyway, Richard was ok but the bike had gone end over end and was looking extremely sorry for itself.
At the time I had an RD350LC and a deal was done in the form of a swap, I was now the proud owner of C221YAD.
It needed a lot of work, forks straightening, subframe on the front replaced, rear subframe straightened. All the parts were sourced or repaired and a complete respray keeping the original scheme of blue/white with yellow flashes. Mods on the bike were 17 inch front wheel, Nissin four pot calipers and a full micron exhaust.
After many miles of reliable service the starter clutch started to fail and I couldn't be arsed to fix it and my riding buddies had all got larger capacity bikes, the FZ was duly sold and replaced with a TTS tuned FZR1000, E607YVO. I believe this bike has recently resurfaced and is back on the road.
I mainly do track days now on an extremely uncomfortable Daytona 675 and my 53 year old frame yearns for something a little comfier, enter my most recent purchase a modified FZ, E517DFJ that once belonged to the moderator of this site. I fully intended to use this as a track day bike but after much deliberating I have decided against it.
The bike has been given a good clean, serviced and new tyres. Needs a new rear shock and it'll be ready for an MOT and the road.
