I have bought ANOTHER FZ this time an FZX- I will post some photos/link to youtube. It is on the road and I will be using it for the most part of 2011 but not sure what bike we will be going to the Isle of Man on as my son wants us to go on his Loctite 2MG Anyhow, back to the FZX - what a fun bike! Yamaha RE-tuned the engine so the power is delivered earlier and it has more stomp than a herd of buffalo! Seriously, nice bike but not one to go fast on as it is naked but I don't agree with going over the speed limits these days as there is far too much traffic on the roads. If you want to go fast go on a track. That said it pulls effortlessly and crisply through the gears and the redline is the same as a regular FZ which is surpeising. I will post photos soon.....

Nice one John. I have had been keeping my eye out for an FZX for quite a while but am in the process of buying a house now so had to kerb it. I am looking forward to your pictures of it, they really are a handsome bike. I saw an absolute beauty on ebay last year with the usual front & rear end upgrade but if went for over 2K. Worth every penny from the work that had gone in to it. Being 40 now I am considering replacing one of my FZ's with an FZX for those occasions when I don't feel like risking my license. Having said that, a thunderace lump in one would be a blast don't you think?

I've got to agree with Johno about the FZX, my ex misses owned one and even though the FZ has got a good mid-range and low revs, the FZX's was better. We found it unloved in a breakers in Leeds and I stripped and rebuilt it, got the frame stove enamelled, wheels polished and the bodywork resprayed Royal blue. Its a shame that it was a little bit heavy for her coz it was a cracking bike and she ended up selling it much to her/our regret. You should have a cracking bike there Johno and it can be made to look very tasty as well, good luck.

Hi Again Guys a bloke came in to my shop today for something and we got talking and it turned out he was involved with a 'cruisers' MCC so I mentioned my new FZX and he said I should come along to one of there meetings which happened to be this evening. So me and Alex got on the Old FZX and braved the weather (blowing a gale and intermittent sleet) to the venue which was in a pub some 10 miles away. I expected the carpark to be littered with trikes and ditch pumps but there were no bikes whatsoever. In fact although there was around 30 members turned up there was only us on the FZX. Anyhow they made us feel welcome and we had some stew and chips.... I am thinking of joining the club for ride outs on the FZX but I will have to grow a beard.......and put on about 3 stone round my gut! Seriously, though they were a great bunch and even asked me to invite some of the FZ club to a meeting/sortie. Here is the website: www.cat-mcc.talktalk.net/
