This "was" mrslow's suspension thread but I think he is sorted so don't see any harm in us discussing the same topic on here.
Having just read all the other replies I was reminded that scobri has used thundercat yokes/triple trees/clamps which also seem to be a direct fit for the FZ which is good news. He also says the thundercat forks are the same length so no worries regards ground clearance or brake line alterations but for me at least, new braided lines are a must. I would look for a complete front end from a thundercat or at least the forks & yokes (top & bottom). I know that TRX850 wheel fits so guessing late FZR600 (fox eye like YZF750) will also. There are probably loads of 90's Yamahas with the same front end set up, you will need the part number for the wheel (one one of the spokes) to be sure. Callipers for the slightly newer stuff all have the same bolt spacing from Sumitomi? (TRX) to blue spots (early R1, R6, thundercat/ace etc). Be aware that there are 2 types of blue spot callipers available with the hose mounting is in a slightly different place depending on which bike you buy them for/from. You will need matching wheel spindle of course & speedo drive. FZ cable screws in to later speedo drive. Also clip on bars to match the top yoke will be needed. I have used TRX clip ons with FZR1000 top yoke but the bolt through the yoke is in a different place. It's not vital but worth a mention. Personally I would also want the front brake master cylinder set up to compliment whatever brakes you go with.
Didn't mean to write an essay then but there is probably loads more I have forgot to mention.
Good luck with it. Be good to see some pictures of your bike & progress if you get the chance. ;D
