Well the damn vibration came back at 4500rpm and is driving me nuts. What I did find is that the fuel tank was not as clean as I thought. There was a little junk in the float bowls when I drained them off last week. So this weekend I pulled the tank and carbs, again, and got to work. I spent most of Saturday on the tank using the POR15 repair product. Yesterday was carb cleaning. I pulled the plugs and again the #2 cylinder plug is dark, not wet, just dark. I think I need to check float bowl levels, replace caps and wires(weak spark maybe?) and balance the carbs. Does this make sense? Dave

You can eliminate the plug straight away by swapping them over and see if the new plug is the same in that position. Checking the carb balance is probably your next step and then it's working through a lot of other stuff if that doesn't get results for you.

Hi, I've swapped the plugs around and even ran the old set again. Same results on #2 cyl. I'm going to follow your advice and sync the carbs. I have time since I need to make the manometer and wait 3 days for the tank to cure. Thanks! Dave

Just out of interest...... have you checked the tightness of your exhaust headers lately? Just thought there could possibly be a harmonic buzz from a loose pipe

Thanks for the suggestion...I was able to snug up the nuts, a couple near half a turn. After the tank dries, around Thursday, I'll give it a start up and see. Thanks. Dave

Hi Rangerdave, Maybe you could share a bit of knowledge mainly in prepartion of your tank, what did you do, before applying the sealer!, got info from other sites but not worried about the sealing but the cleaning, as one tank is pretty bad. Thanks trinity.

I'm having trouble sealing my Honda Fireblade tank. Used tank seal last year which lasted nearly 5 months but started leaking again. 2nd time I tried using some of my 2 part resin which I swear is the exact same stuff but it only lasted 2 months & the leak is back. Does anyone know of a product that actually works as I'm off to Germany in August so it would be quite nice not to be leaking fuel all over the place.

Hi Guys, I did a lot of reading online trying to find the best product available and it seems that POR15 got the nod. There is another product called Kreem but there were a lot of complaits about the liner peeling off. POR15 is a 3 stage process that starts with a alkaline cleaner that dissolves fuel residue and cleans the tank. The second stage is a metal etching liquid which removes rust and prepares the surface of the tank for the sealer. Stage 3 is the sealer...it looks like a can of say, mercury or liquid aluminum. The most important thing is to follow the instructions and don't cut corners. Time will tell how well it will work but thus far I'm happy. Tank looks like brand new inside and my rust flaking problems are order. Now, my tank never leaked...I did it only because of the rust. I can send pictures if it helps. Dave

That helps, also read a lot on the internet, will try to find product down here, tank doesnt leak (actually a Goldwing) as I've kept it full of fuel to slow down rust, I think if it did leak I would search for another tank. trinity.

Thanks for the info Dave. I will invest in some of this POR 15 when I'm ready as it sound like good stuff from your description. I toyed with the idea of a replacement tank but my bike has a Rothmans rep paint job so replacing the tank & getting it painted to match is going to cost me megga bucks I just know it.

I'm not sure on its availability in the UK but as a benchmark, I paid around $65 Canadian for the kit. That includes the three products I mentioned earlier. Worth every penny. Dave
