Hi All
I'm in the middle of rebuilding my Genesis 1000 motor for this season, and having have the head flowed and skimmed I'm now doing the valve clearances. Most are out so was wondering if anyone knew a good place to swap/exchange shims or had some of their own they wanted to pass on! I'm after 6 190's and 2 185's so far!
Cheers
Gary

Gaz, did you have the head gas flowed and ported? If so who did it, I want a 750 head done before long.
Robbo.

I had mine gas flowed and skimmed by YPE up here in Edinburgh, he charged £250 which i didn't think was too bad!

That's not actually too bad, is it??? As for the shims, I've ground shims back to achieve clearances. You have to be fairly confident in keeping them relatively flat and being able to achieve sizes to a tolerance though. Ooooh. that reminds me...... we've got a cnc surface grinder at work now. Woohoo

I need bigger shims, so no amount of grinding will manage that!

gaz I have all the shims you need & more. 6-182, 6-185, 4-188, 6-190, 3-192, 2-195, 3-198, 1-202. PM me with your details & I will send them to you (& any others I have that you might need) if you will send me the equivalent number in return. Does anyone think a board/post dedicated to shims (needed/available for swaps) would be useful?

Yeah it takes a proper tradesman to grind them bigger

I think a shim exchange thread would be good idea, saves paying Yamaha prices!
