So I managed to procure a set of carb stix from a local forum member and i wish t sink the carbs on my 1986 FZ750. I have not don't this in 20 years. Any suggestions, or order would be appreciated. Or even a link from this site would be great. Thanks in advance, here are my two beauties in all their glory....

Nice bikes! The carb balancing isn't hard and can be done with the tank on the bike but it's easier if you remove it. The manuals recommend a temporary small tank but some people just stick a pipe from the fuel filter into a jerry can - the pump will lift fuel far enough. Obviously I couldn't recommend such a practice... I've never got on with the mercury gauges, I find them hard to damp - dial gauges are easier to use but you should check that they're all calibrated the same. Valve clearances etc. should be checked first, then attach the hoses (2mgs had M6 screws on the inlet tract, i think the older bikes had spigots with rubber caps) and get the engine up to temp. Using the slot head screws between the carbs balance 1 and 2, then 3 and 4 and then the two pairs. You'l probably have to do this several times before it settles down. Blip the throttle and make sure it settles back ok then reassemble the bike and ride it. You can expect it to run much more smoothly when the carbs are nicely synched and a lot of the noises that people assume are from knackered cam/primary chains or clutch bearings go away when the carbs are properly balanced

I get balancing the screws between 1 qnd 2, and then three and 4, but then how do you balance between the two, are there three screws total?

never mind, I found them all. I got it pretty close. Not perfect, but it is definitely MUCH better. didnt have a chance to ride it, have my 7 year old off school.
will try it later. seems more responsive off throttle though.
thanks for the help.
