Hi All, Quick hello to introduce myself, Red here from New Zealand. I've just purchased an FZ750T which I'll be slowing turning into a budget pre 89 class race bike over the next few months ( probably years ) I'll have lots of questions regarding mods and repairs to get the old girl handling and going fast. The bike was a trade in special at a good price, everything seems to work except top gear makes a hell of a noise so first job is to strip the bike and see whats going on. I race a ...dont laugh, a 900cc yamaha XS750 triple in pre 82 and want to race another class to take the pressure off the old girl. So far I've got hold of some FZR wheels ( 17x3 F and 18x4 R), 280mm discs and 4spots. Not sure about the 18 rear, would ideally like a 17 inch but the 18 has a brand new BT45 on it so being on a budget will probably use it. I do have one initital question, All the specs I have read about the FZ750 say it is a 6 speed but the sticker on the countershaft cover only shows 5 gears. Have I got an orphan or is someone having a laugh? Cheers Red

Howdo Red and welcome, I think the cover from an FZR1000 is the same as the 750 and they only have five gears, maybe someones fitted one of those.
BTW i aint laughing at the XS, i think it looks the biz, right up my street that.
Robbo.

Cheers Guys, love the old triple. I like doing something different. I ride alot of street races so outright power not so critical. Its got around 85hp at the rear wheel. No vid of the bike but some on bike footage in the link below from last years Methven Street races, not my best riding but good fun all the same. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHKJrCzwmDI Robbo, I think your right, just clicked through the gearbox and its got 6 gears... phew. Must be a FZR1000 cover. Cheers Red
