I think the spec wheelbase for an 85/86 bike was 1470mm (I've seen 1490mm quoted on the web but that sounds too long to me). From memory, with an FZ or FZR1000 swingarm the shortest I've got mine was a bit under 1420mm - any less and a new Racetech/Pirelli hits the swingarm cross member. I think Steve Spencer once told me that 1400mm would be optimum, but wasn't achievable. I contemplated altering the rake but decided that was just being silly. It's worth checking the offset on the triple trees - my R6 yokes are 40mm offset, the OE FZ ones may be less. Simon Baggett had adjustable yokes made and took the offset out to 45mm, but he said it made the bike near unrideable. I should think that big an offset would be dangerous on real roads. I hope that's some use.

I checked the factory manual - it gives the wheelbase as 1485mm.
