Helping my friend tidy an old FZ750, lifted the tank to check the airfilter and it was loose. The fittings from the airbox that fit over the carbs and then are tightened in place, don't go over the carbs, and haven't done for some time. Are there different carb sizes airbox combinations? Could they be carbs from a later model that are slightly wider than the originals? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Nope, the rubbers just go hard and shrink over time.
Remove the rubbers from the airbox, and stick them in boiling water. Put each one on to it's carb (individually) as the hot water will soften them.
Leave to cool, put back in the airbox, replace airbox on carbs.
Problem solved. It may take a couple of attempts though. I had to do this with mine.
N.B it might be an idea to note which one goes where. I can't remember if it makes a difference thoough...

No problem, but doesn't your "mate" have a voice of their own?

You wouldn't be the first person to hide behind a "mate" when they have a stupid question.
There's no stupid questions on here, see my thread about my bike playing up for an example...

Its not like that Crusty, although I do intend to have an FZ of my own in the near future, just need some space in the garage.
