Hi Kev, a friend of mine has just dropped his Hayabusa off here for me to look at his brakes. You can bleed them up but over time they go spongy again like air is in the lines. I can't find any leaks, any ideas?? Ta Fatbloke.

Fatbloke I rode my mate's Busa last year & the front brakes were shocking for such a fast bike. He has owned 2 & says they were both rubbish. I would try fresh fluid & bleed but don't think they're up to much from new!

Sounds like the brake fluid has been boiled, which is more likely to happen if the brakes aren't up to much (you use more pressure to try and stop, which heats up the fluid quicker than normal).
Flush the fluid out and try putting in some better quality stuff. The alternative is to overhaul the brakes with better kit (bigger disks/callipers etc.)

Well, I have re bled the brakes and left them overnight with the lever tie wrapped back to the bar and............still shit. I think it is down to the master cylinder ratio as its not the first ive heard of with poor lever travel. They work ok but dont exactly inspire confidence. I think a new master cylinder may be the next thing to try. Thanks for the replys Fatbloke.

Check the pistons in the calipers, make sure they all move freely, if not split the caliper and clean the oxide out from behind the seals, put them back together with fresh fluid etc as the others have said and tbh thats as good as it gets. I hated the brakes hence going radial, my bike stops as it should now.
