Hello peeps. I finally got round to doing a bit more to my FZ today after a long stint of not touching it. It was being stored at a mate's house all last year whilst I built a garage at my new place. Considering it was running when I last messed with it I can't understand why it is completely dead now. Thought the battery might be flat so took it off to charge but it's still fully charged. I have no ignition at all, no dash lights, nothing. Checked fuses, all good. Checked a few connections, all good. I will dig deeper tomorrow but thought I would throw it out to you folks on the off chance someone has had the same problem? Why does something work fine one day then not work at all just from being stood?

Well thanks for your suggestions chaps but it turns out my optimiser was giving a false reading. The battery I bought 2 years ago which has probably started the bike a dozen times is possibly shafted already. Jump leads connected to a spare battery had it lighting up & turning over so on one hand I'm happy. The prospect of replacing what I consider to be a new battery doesn't please me too much though. Same story with the fork oil seals too. It's a good job we love these bloody things eh?
