Hi all, I'v just finished fitting my FZR1000 swingarm and I'm having probs spacing my front sprocket to get the chain run right. I put a spring washer behind the sprocket to space it out and tightened up the nut but its came slightly loose on a short run. Anyone got a safe way round this? I'm no engineer and don't fancy being a crash test dummy either. Attachments:

Alliekat fitted an EXUP arm to het FZ so she might tell you how she solved the problem. I seem to remember her mentioning the rear sprocket being machined but can't be certain?

you might be better offsetting back sprocket alot easyer ive got a yzf swinging arm in looks really nice ive even managed to get a nc30 single sided arm in my other fz shock offset and risers took a bit of sorting but looks nice ive pictures on me mobile havnt sorted how to get them on this site yet cheers tritech

as graham said i got a 6 mm or so piece machined out of the centre of the sprocket, then ran a spacer behind the sprocket to push it out and line up. the machined bit them allowed me to put the nut on properly. machined bit facing out wards on the shaft. hope that helps.

Thanks for the info guys. Alliekat, so is it the front spocket you got machined? and left the rear as is? Thanks in advance, David

yes it was the front sprocket, you can do the back but you have to grind some of the hub away around the studs so that the rear sprocket sits further in and lines up the chain but this also then has the potential to make the chain hit the tyre if you are running a 180. . so it was easier to put a recess in the front sprocket a bit bigger than the sprocket nut, and then space behind the sprocket to mount it further out on the shaft, the re cess then allows the nut to be screwed on with a lock washer.

Just my 2 cents, but I've seen people cut out the center of one sprocket and weld it to another sprocket that has the teeth ground off (machine shop). I've also seen places that sell offset sprockets... not sure what other bikes have the same output shaft as the FZ though. Either way any way that gets the bike on the road is good!

I fitted an Exup rear end to one of my previous FZ`s I flipped the rear sprocket round dished side in,I also put a 4mm thick washer behind front sprocket & surface ground off the shoulder of sprocket so it was flat so I could use the tab washer to keep the sprocket intact.Alternatively could machine around 5-6 mm off the sprocket surface area on the sprocket carrier.
