I have a FZ 750 genesis (C Reg ) which dropped the main shaft gearbox bearing behind the drive sprocket and ate the sprocket etc. In process of stripping motor down but never been inside a big jap motor before. Main question is . . . cam positions When putting motor back together if I position crank to TDC on pot 1 . . . what position should both the inlet and exhaust camshafts be sitting. This might be a completely stupid question as this is all new to me. Any help would be much appreciated. Should the exhaust cam lobe be 180 degrees opposite the valve. Panicing here . . . HELP . . .

I'll go tear the valve cover off my other genesis motor and flip the #1 cylinder to TDC when I get a chance. I'll take a pic and post it here when It's done.

Maybe not so much, but I have to thank you. In the process of trying to help you I found that the output shaft where you put the front sprocket is stripped so I cant get the Nut on it to rotate the engine. So now I'm REALLY glad I didn't try to use that engine in my bike otherwise I would have found that at the end and been PISSED. If I were you I'd get a clymers or Chiltons or something. Good luck anyway.
