Does anyone know if FZ studs are the same as any other Yamaha's? Would give me more options. I have used stainless all thread as a temporary measure but would like to do it properly now I'm back on it.

yes, I think so. They worked out about £3-4 each when I did mine. The thread at one end is longer than at the other. This long end goes into th ehead.

Oooooookaaaayyyyy. Maybe I should have worded it better. Does anyone know "which" other Yamaha models share the same studs? If they are 3-4 quid each then my all thread might end up as permanent! They are 4 quid for a pair + 2 quid post on ebay & that seems a bit rich to me.

@ the £4 each that I paid it only works out at £30. And I went to Fowlers in Bristol to get them....

ONLY!.. . 30 QUID! Think I must have my bah humbug head on this week. FZ needs yet another battery & fork oil seals which were both replaced less than 2 years ago & my Fazer needs a new clutch.. . Fek!

All I can say in respect of the cost is, having taken out ones that have probably been in my engine for 30 years, they will come out with no difficulty if you ever need them to. Can the same be said of some cut down stainless?
Piece of mind is worth a lot more than £30....

Okay mate, a lesson in perspective. FZ fork seals were only a tenner so I just need some enthusiasm to fit them now. I'm on my 2nd Fazer 1000 in 12 months thanks to a wayward bolt lodging itself in my exhaust cam in March so the clutch has been robbed from the old engine for now. Just leaves a new battery then on to the exhaust studs. I shudder to think how much this FZ has cost me to date so from now on I will only be buying bits for it when I have sold something else. I have a few bits from my old Fireblade on ebay which seem to have generated more interest than I was expecting so will more than likely be buying a set of ebay studs.. . IF ONLY SOMEONE COULD TELL ME WHICH OTHER YAMAHA MODELS SHARE THE SAME STUDS AS THE FZ!

Sorry mate, don't know. I don't even know which part number they are as I binned the (individual) bags they came in....

No worries my man. Think I will take a chance on the FZR1000 Genesis studs being the same. In a much better mood now. Spent a few hours tinkering with the FZ today. Couldn't understand why it wouldn't start even with jump leads connected to the Fazer. I even removed the rad & plugs to check compression (again). Came in the house for a coffee & went through a check list in my head. I stripped the fuel tank the other day to swill it out & service the fuel tap which was in pretty good nick. I forgot to turn it to "on" when I refitted it! It starts & runs now. Incentive enough to tackle the fork seals tomorrow I think. ;D

Buy one and see if it screws in alright. If it does, but another seven. Can't see them not fitting, essencially the same block.
Don't talk to me about batteries. Mine wouldn't start on Thurs so jumped it off the car but then couldn't get the bonnet shut properly......

Pulled the part number outta my parts breakdown for the 88' FZ750, 90116-06466-00. It is referenced to the following models.
1987 FZ700T CYLINDER HEAD 1987 FZ700TC (CA ED.) CYLINDER HEAD 1987 FZR750RT CYLINDER-HEAD 1988 FZ750U CYLINDER HEAD 1988 FZ750UC (CA ED.) CYLINDER HEAD 1988 FZR750RU CYLINDER HEAD 2001 YX600R - YZF600RNC CYLINDER HEAD 2001 YZ600R - YZF600RN CYLINDER HEAD 2002 YZF600R - YZF600RP CYLINDER HEAD 2002 YZF600R - YZF600RPC CYLINDER HEAD 2003 YZF600R - YZF600RR CYLINDER HEAD 2003 YZF600R - YZF600RRC CYLINDER HEAD
Not sure what year engine you have, but the 85' parts manual is listing the part number as 95611-06630-00 so not the same part, possibly just an old superceded number because there are not any other models listed for this part. I can tell you the FZR1000 Genesis is part# 90116-08504-00 However the nut from the 750 Genesis fits on it perfectly... So you would probably be safe with either one, one may just be a bit longer or shorter than the other I'm thinking. Either way hope this all helps out.

The one I'm messing with is an 87-88 2MG model. I would have put money on the FZR1000 being identical until you told me the part number was different. I emailed the ebay seller today who has told me to measure one of mine & they will make some. The only problem with that is that mine hasn't got any! I will HAVE to drive to my lock up now to either measure one or see about robbing a set from another engine. ;D

The only reason I can see would be because the FZR exhaust flanges are welded in place and the FZ ones are collars that move (at least on mine anyway) but seeing that they both start with 90166-XXXX-00 I would put money on the length being the only difference. I'll try and save you some time, here are the specs from an 88 FZR1000 stud: Attachments:

Thanks Ryan. I'm guessing the fatter M8 part goes in the head & the thin bit sticks out? I thought the thread was the same size both ends??

You are correct, the M8 end goes in the block and the M6 end sticks out. And it was my pleasure, I'm waiting for some parts to come in for my bike. So I'm just twittling my thumbs here going crazy. ;D
