Hi all Thought I better introduce myself. I seem to have bought an FZ750. I was actually looking for some modern suspension for an old zed. However I seem to have bought about 80% of a bike instead. Seems a shame to break it up for parts so I think I may have another project. I think I may be asking A LOT of questions over the next few months. At the moment I know I have an fz750 frame/engine 17" front wheel with 39mm forks. 18" rear wheel and unknown braced swingarm 2 sets of carbs , 2 tanks 2 sets of carbs and a truly horrible wiring loom. The thing that Makes it interesting is that there is an FZR1000 engine as well. Will post some photos in a few days once I have sorted through it all.

Thanks for the warm welcome there graham. Funny how broken exhaust studs can ruin your day. This is the z1000 the parts were for. It was worst than the FZ when I started

That's a really nice looking KZ1000! Nicely done. That British Racing Green paint looks really good. I must admit that I've always liked Kawasaki lime green (a rare taste here in the US, I've found) but that darker green is lovely.
Welcome! I understand about buying 80% of your bike. I bought about 95% of mine, but it's not getting on the road very quickly despite that. I wish you good speed on getting yours together.

I used to have a Z1000 ST which was very similar to that. Was a good bike and never ever any trouble

I used to have a Z1000 ST which was very similar to that. Was a good bike and never ever any trouble I'd forgotten all about it until your post but I also had one for a short while when I still lived in Ayrshire. Mine was Burgundy Metallic and I took it to the TT in 1985. It did burn about a pint of oil every 500 miles and had a bit of a speed wobble about 115mph but I think they all did that - I got on well with it for the few months I owned it anyway

The speed wobble at 115 is just to remind you that you are going to crash soon

The speed wobble at 115 is just to remind you that you are going to crash soon I didn't have that one long enough to crash test it. It was ok above 115 until it ran out of breath at an indicated 140 - just about enough to try keeping up with those newly available 500cc two stroke race replicas over the mountain ;D. I found some photos of it last night - it was actually a Z1000J. Looked very similar to yours except for the seat, front mudguard and different rear shock mountings. Good luck with your FZ rebuild.
