Hi all I've just swapped on a set of 1987 FZR100 forks. Which was a piece of cake (HHMMMMMM! cake! ) Now i have a problem, Which is that the FZ clipons obviously don't work as the forks are a differerent size. I have put on the FZR clipons, but as these fit below the top yoke, when the controls are fitted they foul on the clocks. The FZR forks are 25mm approx shorter than the FZ so i can't push them up through the yokes to mount the clipon's on top.
So i'd like to know how others have solved this problem.
Cheers

I have used TRX850 clipons. the locator bolt hole is in the wrong place but it's not vital. I "might" drill & tap my FZR top yoke in time so I can stick a bolt in the hole.

i had problems when putting my exup forks on, i bought some three way adjustable clip ons from danmoto, mounted below the yokes bu tangled upside down if you see what i mean. they were 43mm forks though, perhaps some fj1200 ones would do some pics here s675.photobucket.com/albums/vv120/alliekat63/

I'm pretty sure that the standard setting was top of tube flush with the face of the top yoke. As I recall, the 1AE forks had a circlip groove machined into them to locate the air link pipe gubbins and this stopped you dropping the yokes any lower.

Mine (standard 2MG as far as Iknow) are flush. Mind you, I wouldn't mind dropping them slightly to speed up the steering.

ok peeps it must be the way I put the question. The clip ons fit on top of the top yolk yes. so if you removed the clipon how much of the fork leg is showing....ie from under the nut on top of the fork leg and holding the spring in, to the top face looking down on top of the top yolk....... Come on surely someone understands my confusing explanation

Hi just measured my standard FZ clipons they are 32mm tall/thick so that would be how much the forks come through the top yoke. thanks for the info I will have a look at some FJ and TRX clipon pics to see if they will work failing that i may have to hit the plastic and buy some adjustables. Or see if remote resevoir levers will sort the prob. when i get the front end sorted then i can work on the back end. As I have a fzr1000 for donation of al it's goodies.

ok peeps it must be the way I put the question. Nope, it's just me being dim ;D I haven't had a roadgoing FZ for nearly a year and forgot that the clip ons were above the yokes. Also, I'm old and confuse easily

It's not you being thick, Dobbin.
The FZ bars are under the yoke and so there is no gap between the bottom of the bolt on top of the fork leg and the yoke. If that makes sense...
