Hi again , not really into Facebook and all that stuff , If I need to know anything I ask the Mr's LOL as shes always on it , but have posted some pictures if your nterested on www.facebook.com/eddie.edwards.1481 Got a few more pictures from last weekend just did not have time to post them yesterday
A Eddie Stone ERS racing fully refurbish Ohilis Shock Really pleased with this , quality workmanship I'm looking to get the whole bike suspension set-up by ERS for my weigh an riding style www.ersracing.co.uk/
More about the history later , 1Ae 1985 750 Steve Parrish tuned head , was a race tuned engine but later converted back to a standard bottom end for road use (crank and pistons Carb are the original 750 bored out inlet ( same size as the FZR 1000 ) & jetted , machined / matched to head inlets , modified bowls as per the race spec
Dont do this at home , could not be bothered to get the engine hoist from the back of the garage and set it all up , so used the Garden swing frame and ratchet hoist supporting the weight off a trolley jack Simples , Made a alloy undertray with double sided tape to seal the joint to the rear frame Rear shock feels fantastic.
that's the end of day 2, weather was good a most enjoyable weekend , does not seem like much progress fitted the bespoke rad and it does not really fit that well, but the main thing is "it FITS " if only just
Final picture from last weekend , as you can see from the shadow it at the end of the day A bit more to do this weekend , note the old pods are only there to protect the carbs , Got some replacemtnts and a couple of race air boxes to see if I can get them to fit under the tank , if not then it will be the double Ramair foam filters , but thats one for later
Did not seem to do much last weekend had fun with the wiring loom , started making a bespoke loom , and just ended adding more wiring , so started to modify a yzf 750 loom Decided on Orange , looks better in the flesh needs flatting back and the top coats (2 K) , hopefully a bit more progress this weekend

last 2 week ends , Done loads of painting but mainly the Garden Fence LOL So not much progress with the bike , managed to get the fairing in positon , Lumiweld the old clock bracket to a new stem , Fitted the clip-on's , switchgear & levers . Changed the oil in the forks ( and made a bloooming mess with the old oil dripping everywhere )
Just thought I'd add a bit more detail . picture of the Spondon FZ 750 back in the day . built to race, this time its going to have a Day-Time MOT and be road legal , about time it got used I'll see how it looks with a full fairing or try the FZ half fairing, still some way to go but its coming together ( I hope ).
Full fairing is BIG! Not sure which I prefer. Is your seat unit the same as the one above? Can't tell from the head on pic. What's that big ally bracket by the rad in the old pic? Looks like cable ties on it?
Got to agreed the Full fairing is BIG ! tried a few and settled on the YZF 750 fairing and seat as it picks up off the sump fairing bracked and is designed for "these" engines
The big ally bracket supports the rad and the cable tie holds the hose , My frame has had the headstock modified later on " its Massive " and the cause of a load of problems the rad that came with the bike was tiny and tucked up under the headstock and there was little or no steering lock. After numerous attempts to make things fit JAL Restorations got it sorted along with a trip to Harris to get the headstock modified again.
At this point I questioned the "Cost" as to date it was and has not been cheap and would it ever be finished ?. Would it be best just to sell it and just buy a finished bike ? So after some serious looking at and more trial parts fitting and mock ups , as you can see from this post I bit the bullet and the build is now on
Now its out there for all to see its got to be finished and it helps with the motivation.
So if there is a member whos a (Midlands if possibe ) Alloy fabricator / machinist who wants to show case their works , please drop me a PM as I going to need a bit of help in the future and a helping hand would be welcome
Difficult to trace the full history , From the frame number got the build details from Spondon Spondon FZ 750 Frame built for Eero Hyvarinen to race in the World F1 750 series
The Frame was imported back into the UK by Racer Chris Wilshaw and assembled using Keith Heuwen FZ750 Dymag race wheels , Steve Parrish tuned engine Spondon Calipers,Spondon Fully adjustable yokes , Marocchi Ceriani F1 Forks and a few other bits & bobs Unknow fairing & seat Chris had to retire from racing and I became the new owner
In its time its been back to Spondon , Steve Spencer , Jal Restorations & Harris Performance The massive headstock had always caused major problems but Steve at JAL found it had been modified at some point during its life and need to be remachined at Harris

vtr: Hi from cape town; new at forum's not at bike building; the insanity is contagious. Recently acquired a "1FU" FZ750 with dropped valves and decided cool to rebuild as a 911conversion sleeper, what we do to ourselves...

grahamfirestorm: Can anyone tell me why my bike doesn't seem to light up after 7000rpm like all the research I did before buying it.She has the standard 4 into 1 exhaust, carbs rebuilt with new jets,seals,floats,2 new diaphragms, all valve clearances checked and adjusted?

grahamfirestorm: She revs round to 10000rpm ok,but there is no urgency with it,my 1987 Kawasaki gpx750 was a lot quicker, and that was supposed to be 10-15 bhp down, ive been told the standard silencer and air filter are to blame but I don't believe that.

Graham : grahamfirestorm. Do you have standard size main jets fitted to your carbs? I would be tempted to go up a size or even two to see if it helps the bike pull stronger at high revs.
