Many thanks to Gavin for the oil flow schematic a valuable bit of information. Does anyone know of a race tuner working on this type of engine to confirm the findings. Seems that removing the starter clutch gubbins and shaft uncover an oil feed hole behind the inner bearing, the oil feed hole feeds the outer oil line pipe 'Y' bolted via a single union to the top centre of the crankcases then onto the unions bolted to the back of the cylinder head... More research needed.

Just thinking, Kenny, was the oil pressure light not working or had you disconnected it with the total loss ignition?

race loom doesnt have that facility and isnt it an oil level light didnt know these engines had an oil pressure switch. However with hindsight it may have been a good idea to fit one. Also was unaware of oil bleed on head until Gavin mentioned it.
nothing further from engine builder and we sail 6 weeks Wednesday

As Kenny says, FZs (and a lot of other Yamahas) don't have an oil pressure light - it's just a low level warning. I was thinking last night that it might be possible to attach an oil pressure gauge or switch to the check bolt on the inlet cam casing that Kenny mentioned?

Sorry about that, I honestly thought that as soon as the engine starts the red oil light goes out so I thought it must be switched to the oil pressure somehow otherwise it wouldn't come on at all (unless the oil level was low)

The MGP fuel fund received a boost today thanks to the Tomster (adds to John O' contribution who started the fund off) many many thanks.
There are opportunities to be in the parc ferme and on the start line too for the classic races and the same plus in the pits for the Post Classic Race (although we may have that one sorted)
pm me if your going over and interested in standing on Glencrutchery Road for the start. Obviously you will need to help out as pit crew.
