Wellllllllllllllll
Engine in and its running, plenty of oil coming out of the bleed nut on the head (pumped out like crazy) very lumpy on tickover but smooth when reved lightly, sounds very camchainy (engine builder said to push a bolt in canchain hole to help adjuster....have done that but too late to start it up now.
To top it all the damn thing boiled its brains out after 15 minutes (no thermostat in it)
Rollerscates looking a good option right now.
Many thanks to the guys who assisted with the fuel fund

So why's it overheating then Ken? Surely if there's no stat it should run cooler? Hmmmmmmm

I assume you've removed the fan? 15 minutes tickover on the stands is more than long enough to boil mine. If the fan is still connected, check that the thermostat housing is bolted to the frame - the temperature sensor earths through it and it may also affect fan operation? I also had a problem trying to use the OE temp sensor with a Racetech temperature gauge - they weren't compatible and the coolant was boiling when the gauge was only reading about 85 degrees Re. rough idle; individual filters/stacks make FZs run very rich at low rpm. Balancing carbs will even it out but I keep the tickover at 1700 - 2000 rpm anyway to reduce engine braking, which is otherwise savage into slow corners. Keep at it

I hear you FZ750Horse......thanks for that.........no fan and 15 mins boiled mine too. Do you run a thermostat? Do you run a standard radiator?
Individual filters fitted (plus dynojet kit)
Temp gauge works great now it has an earth lead.
Back to the dreaded dyno soon. Friend of mine had his slabside post classic racer on last night and has 103bhp at his disposal.

No thermostat and standard rad. I do have an FZR rad which I might fit at some point but I've never had a problem with overheating when the bike is moving, though it can be a pain when being held on the grid or on a red flag. I think an oil cooler would be a better use of the space - I have an adapter that Phil Smith made for me which I'll probably fit after the rebuild. I used to switch the bike off if it got to 60 degrees in the holding area to avoid it boiling up on the grid - probably won't be an issue for the MGP? I believe that 97-98bhp is good for a 1FN FZ, 2MGs can make another 5bhp - depends on the dyno obviously. You should get a good few 'unmeasurable bhp' with the crank lightening and the loss of the whole generator/starter motor gubbins making it spin up faster than a rat up a drainpipe ;D

Ken, don't like the sound of the camchain rattling-if the chain is worn it should have been replaced during the build. If the tensioner is on the end of it's tether I am not sure that stuffing a bolt in is going to help. All the best with the dyno run - I would like to be optimistic and say 105 bhp!
Let's hope for the best...

It is a new camchain John tensioner not worn it was stuck in between the ridges. I had a long bolt in the hole turned the engine over by the rear wheel and with slight pressure felt it click one more on the adjuster. The bolt is removed and the spring replaced.
If its 105bhp someone will need picking up off the floor ;D

The engine runs fine.........well up to 6500rpm at least then the world ends. Tried different CDI airbox on airbox off pod filters on pod filters off....no joy. She will rev clean till 6500 then pops bangs judders. Dont think its crank pickups as wouldnt run at all.... Checked all wiring nothing touching or earthing (except the two earths that is). One thing is that its fitted with CBR600FP coils but why would that cause the problem??? Honesty here is the best thing...maybe its time to withdraw www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=206068819442595&oid=163156277089044&comments#!/profile.php?id=100001050223811

Probably a stupid question, but that's nothing new for me, what kind of plugs are you using?

Granted four would be better than just a couple. So what are you suspecting? Fuel? Have you tried a set of standard coils, just to eliminate them, even though I really can't see why they would cause it. Will it not clear its throat at all?

Had some pointers of Gavin seems we may be way out on main jet.....will try that first.....I did have coils but sent them to Canada..
