does sound fuel orientated to me. Makes sense that your jets aren't big enough to feed it and it's running out of puff. Good luck Ken, I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

Hi Ken, looking at the video it looks like it refuses to rev any higher as if it has reached the limiter. I would stick some standard coils on just to rule them out but I wouldn't hold my breath on them but you never know, e.g does the ecu get feedback from the coils? What does the dyno reckon? and more to the point what is your gut feeling?

What does the dyno reckon? and more to the point what is your gut feeling? I think its fuel too. If it was 'sparks' the dyno would read rich but it reads very VERY lean........I think it revs to 6500 (ish) because its still on the needle, as soon as the needle leaves the main jet all hell breaks loose. Gavin (FZ750horse) alluded to main jet size. I am running dynojet main jets 138. Mikunki ref is a great deal different. Gavin originally said "around 140 mains" so I thought I would start at 138. What I failed to realise is that a 140 Mikuni is the same as a 150 to 152 dynojet mainjet....I am miles out damn it. Dynojet mainjets ordered back to dyno Monday

I have created/amended a comparison sheet for mainjets now, may prove helpfull to someone other than me. Attachments:

That makes sense, Ken. Things are looking up. What carbs are on? are they the standard CV ones?

Update.......... Been back on dyno.fueling looks good up to 6800 70bhp but it seems the limiter kicks in doesnt matter what you do with jets or changing CDI it just like the limiter kicks in.any ides? ?? could we cut the limiter wire does anyone know which one it it. The bike has a racetech wiring look on £325 so shouldnt be a wiring fault !!!!!!!! Time is not on my side any help advice welcome

Anyone got any standard coils you could try? Just wonder if this is connected to the limiter? Another thought.....as the limiter is in the ecu, could you swap that to try?

I've found 3 1AE coils with leads in the garage. I'm not sure if they're any good but I'll send them to you tomorrow.

Right, we are starting to clutch at straws now here guys.... A couple of things to clarify: (1) If you are running a total loss system with a standard ECU/CDI it may be that there is not enough current when the engine is revving past a certain point to keep the ecu functioning as it should. Is there any way you can boost your power supply by hanging on a 12 volt battery somewhere? (This is my favourite answer) (2) I am aware that Yamaha originally had 2 crank pickup sensors and that the numbers on the CDI unit are different between 1FN's and 2MG models so are you confident you are using the right boxes? I realise it is a big problem as the bike was a basket case which is a shame because if you had had it in one piece you could have run it and seen if it would redline in standard trim before stripping it. (3) I wonder if you could fit the wiring and ecu etc off your YZF750SP? (thinking about it, Ken, I bet you have already done that...) (4) Did the racetech loom have exactly the same sockets (same pins) as the standard loom or have you had to chop and change the wiring to fit the large socket that goes into the ecu/cdi black box thingy? (5) The only thing I can think of otherwise is get a soundly running bike take off the entire loom with cdi etc and hang it on and see if that makes any diference.
